Terms of Use
Last updated: 3 July 2026
Welcome to Hearth. By using the app you agree to these simple terms.
Your content is yours
Everything you write in Hearth belongs to you. We claim no ownership over your entries and we don't use them for any purpose other than providing the app (and, if you enable it, syncing them across your devices).
Acceptable use
- Use Hearth for your own personal gratitude practice.
- Don't attempt to break, overload, or gain unauthorised access to the service or other people's accounts.
- Don't use the service to store or distribute unlawful content.
Accounts
Accounts are optional. If you create one, keep your password safe — you're responsible for activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised use.
The app is provided "as is"
We work hard to make Hearth reliable and to never lose your entries, and the local-first design means your data lives on your own device. Still, the app is provided without warranties, and to the extent permitted by law we are not liable for indirect or incidental damages. Please keep your own backups (Settings → Your data → Export).
Pricing
Hearth is free forever for anyone controlling their own data — reading, writing, and exporting your own entries, and keeping them on your own devices, never costs anything and never will. The only thing that will ever cost money is optional cloud sync and storage on Hearth's servers (holding your encrypted entries and keeping them in step across your devices). You can export your full journal at any time (Settings → Your data → Export) to keep your own backup, switch devices, or change formats.
Changes
We may update these terms; we'll change the date above when we do. Continued use means you accept the updated terms.
